Allen County veterans honored at annual Veterans Day Parade
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Service members across Allen County were honored on Saturday.
The parade kicked off at the intersection of Nettie and Parnell Ave. by North Side High School and went all the way down to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
Following the parade, there was a closing ceremony at Memorial Hall, where wreaths were placed to honor fallen veterans.
The event is put on by the Allen County Council of Veterans Organizations. Members say that every year, around 2,000 veterans participate in the parade.
“I just like to see everybody showing up, seeing all the people participating. Also, I like to see everybody lining the parade route. It really warms your heart when people come out to see the parade,” said Alan Schuette, the vice commander of the Allen County Council of Veterans Organizations.
