PFW providing medication disposal locations for Drug Take Back Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Purdue University Fort Wayne invites students and community members to safely dispose of unwanted or expired medications during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The event is on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside of the main entrance of Kettler Hall at PFW.
The university’s Division of Campus and Community Wellbeing is partnering with the Purdue Fort Wayne Police Department to provide a convenient disposal location for prescription and over-the-counter medications.
The initiative aims to prevent prescription drug misuse, promote public health, and protect the environment by keeping unused medications out of the wrong hands and local waterways.
Syringes, liquids and items containing batteries will not be accepted.
Community members unable to attend Saturday’s event can utilize Purdue Fort Wayne’s year-round prescription drug take-back box, located outside the Purdue Fort Wayne Police Department.
The disposal box is available to campus and community members throughout the year.
