Local elected officials to hold roundtable in Fort Wayne to discuss impacts of Indiana Senate Bill 1

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Elected officials from across northeast Indiana will be in Fort Wayne on Friday for a roundtable.
Hosted by Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (AIM), the discussion will cover the impacts of Indiana Senate Bill 1 (SB 1) on local communities.
SB 1 was signed into law by Indiana Governor Mike Braun on April 15, after facing heavy scrutiny by both chambers at the Statehouse.
The bill altered property taxes in the state budget with a goal to give two-thirds of homeowners relief, at a loss for local units of government and school corporations.
According to a fiscal analysis, SB 1 will save homeowners a collective $1.2 billion in property taxes over the next three calendar years, while local units of government would lose a projected $1.5 billion and school corporations would lose a projected $750 million.
Elected officials who will be at the roundtable include:
- Carrie Mugford, Clerk-Treasurer of North Manchester & AIM 1st VP
- Dave Clark, Mayor of Auburn
- Dave Martin, Mayor of Angola
- Dave Wood, Mayor of Mishawaka & 2025 AIM President
- Kayla Pauley, Clerk-Treasurer of Cromwell
- Madalyn Sade-Bartl, Clerk-Treasurer of Churubusco

- Richard Strick, Mayor of Huntington
- Ryan Daniel, Mayor of Columbia City & 2026 AIM President

In addition to the discussion, AIM will also have a presentation on proposed recommendations for members of the Indiana General Assembly to hear during the 2026 legislative session.
