Rod Woodson watches family in North Side Bishop Luers football game
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Former Pittsburgh Steeler and Pro Football Hall of Famer Rod Woodson returned to his hometown Friday night to watch Bishop Luers take on North Side.
Woodson, a Snider graduate, was in town to see his nephew, senior McKale Woodson, play cornerback and free safety for the Knights. He also watched his cousin, Leslie Woodson, suit up for the Legends.
For the football legend, being back in Fort Wayne and taking in the Hoosier high school football atmosphere never gets old.
“To come out and see those guys play against each other, come back in town — it’s always good to come back home, get a little barbecue, a little cookout before the game,” Woodson said. “It’s good to be with family. It’s good to be with friends. It’s good to come back to the Midwest [and experience] that Friday night lights feel that Indiana gives you.”
Woodson plans to return to Fort Wayne next summer to host another year of his Hope Through Football Camp.
