HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) - Huntington County held its annual ‘Shop with a Cop’ program at the Huntington Walmart on Thursday.

According to the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office, this year’s ‘Shop with a Cop’ broke records for the amount of funds raised and the number of children served. More than $41,000 was raised and over 150 children were served.

Agencies present included Huntington City Police, Roanoke Police Department, Andrews Police Department, Huntington County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and Indiana State Police

The agencies say the event ensures a meaningful and memorable holiday experience for local children in need.

“This year’s program exceeded all of our expectations,” said Huntington County’s Sheriff, Chris Newton. “Seeing the smiles on these children’s faces is a reminder of why we do this work. Our community came together in an incredible way, and I’m deeply grateful for everyone who contributed to making this year so special.”

Huntington County’s Chief Deputy, Chad Hammel says, “Programs like ‘Shop with a Cop’ allow us to connect with our community on a personal level. The impact goes far beyond the holiday season—it builds trust and strengthens relationships for years to come.”

The Huntington County Sheriff’s Office says thanks to the record-breaking funds raised each child had the opportunity to shop for essential items as well as toys and gifts for their families.
