One dead, another injured following LaGrange County crash

LAGRANGE, Ind. (WPTA) - One man is dead and another is injured after a crash in LaGrange County early Thursday morning.

LaGrange County sheriffs say the crash happened just before 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, on State Road 5 near 5400 S.

According to sheriffs, it is believed that a minivan was heading southbound on State Road 5 when the driver fell asleep and entered the northbound lane. Another minivan was driving northbound on State Road 5 at the time, a release from the sheriff’s office says.

Authorities say the driver of the second minivan tried to avoid the crash but was struck on its front right side.

According to the release, the front passenger, a 53-year-old man, had to be extricated from the vehicle. Police say the man became unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene while the second passenger, a 58-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with multiple injuries.

The two drivers were uninjured.
