Coroner identifies man killed in Economy Inn shooting
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was shot Tuesday morning at a hotel off of Coliseum Blvd.
Police say the shooting happened around 11:30 a.m. at the Economy Inn on W Coliseum Boulevard. According to detectives on the case, one man was pronounced dead at the scene and 50-year-old Archie L. Whitest was taken into custody.
According to a probable cause affidavit that was filed in the case, Whitest said he shot and killed the victim after an argument over “poisoned” drugs.
The coroner has identified the victim as 52-year-old Donald Charles Warren III of Fort Wayne. His death was ruled a homicide, making this the 10th for Allen County in 2024.
