FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Colton Bender and Griffin Doersching had big nights at the plate, in Fort Wayne’s 8-5 win over South Bend on Thursday night.
Doersching opened up the TinCaps scoring with a two-run homer in the second inning. Bender plated the final two runs with a home run in the eighth.
Meanwhile, West Michigan fell 5-3 on the road at Lansing. That result allowed the TinCaps to make up some ground in the playoff picture.
Right now, the Whitecaps lead the TinCaps by 1.5 games for the Midwest League East’s second half playoff spot.
The TinCaps have nine games left in the regular season. They will continue their series with the Cubs on Friday night at 7:05pm.
