More than just a thrift shop: Blue Jacket’s mission to give everyone a chance

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Every year August 17th marks “Thrift Shop Day.” One shop in Fort Wayne has expanded from a thrift shop to a community-wide resource.

Blue Jacket has two thrift stores: Blue Jacket Clothing Co. and Renew by Blue Jacket. In addition, there is also the Tall Rabbit Cafe and their cleaning service. All of these function as places for individuals who may lack “education, employment, housing, transportation, work experience, or even possesses a disability, mental illness, or addiction” the resources they need to succeed.

As they go through the “Blue Jacket Academy,” they gain valuable skills like interviewing, resume building and networking.

As part of the celebration for Thrift Shop day, both Blue Jacket stores will have 50% off sales.
