PTSD Awareness Month with The Code 9 Project
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - June is PTSD Awareness Month devoted to bringing more awareness and knowledge about PTSD to everyone and to educate and eliminate the stigma associated with PTSD. We talk with President and Co-Founder of The Code 9 Project, Brandielee Baker about the PTSD resources available for First Responders, and Veterans, and their families.
The Code 9 Project is a national nonprofit organization that provides education and training for First Responders, Veterans and their families for the prevention of PTSD and suicide. First responders and frontline workers suffer some traumatic and difficult experiences on the job. This can take a toll on many people’s mental health. First responders and frontline workers may develop PTSD symptoms similar to military veterans. Some first responders and veterans struggle with anxiety, depression, PTSD and may even contemplate suicide.
