FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A class of fourth-grade students at Croninger Elementary are giving back to their community.

Leaders at Humane Fort Wayne posted on Facebook that the students raised $1,000 as part of their school fundraiser, ‘The Great Penny War of 2023′. They say the kids stopped by the shelter on Tuesday to donate their winnings to help support the life-saving work done at Humane Fort Wayne.

“Thank you to the students, staff, and parents of Croninger Elementary for supporting us through their school-wide fundraiser!” the post reads.

During their visit, the students got to play with Rowdy, a four-month-old retriever mix who is looking for his forever home. For more information on the shelter and how to donate or adopt, visit their website.
