WHEELING, W.V. (WPTA) - The Komets were on the road Saturday night going up against the Wheeling Nailers.

Tough start for the Komets, as the Nailers scored three goals in the first seven minutes, including goals by Matt Koopman, Sebastian Dirven and Tyler Drevitch. Fort Wayne found itself, again, in an early hole as they trailed 3-0 after one period.

It was a quiet second period until the very end, as Andy Willis scored for the Komets with 0.9 seconds remaining in the period. The goal is Willis’s first professional goal of his career.

Things ramp up in the third period. David Jankowski puts the Nailers up 4-1, but the Komets begin to storm back.

Fort Wayne scores two goals in 14 seconds to cut the deficit to one. But the comeback effort falls short, as the Nailers win 4-3.

Komets return home Wednesday night to face the Wings.
