FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A brief burst of mild air arrives for Thursday, but the spring-like temperatures will falter going into the weekend.

Skies will be mostly cloudy as the 50s make a comeback this afternoon. Showers will likely arrive around the evening commute, but rain will pick up and become more widespread throughout the overnight hours into Friday morning. Wind gusts will range from 30-40 mph through the end of the workweek.

A few showers linger into St. Patrick’s Day morning, but will dry up by the afternoon. While the majority of St. Paddy’s Day will be dry, gusty winds and falling temperatures will make any outdoor festivities uncomfortable at times. Temperatures will hold in the upper 40s in the morning and begin crashing into the 30s during the afternoon. Wind gusts will push 30-35 mph, making wind chills range in the 20s.

Today: Mostly cloudy, PM rain; High 52; Wind S 10-15, gusts to 30

Tonight: Rain, windy; Low 47; Wind S 15-20, gusts to 40
