Purdue Fort Wayne women win tournament opener against Detroit Mercy

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Destinee Marshall broke a tie and put the Mastodons up for good with 11.7 seconds left in regulation, helping the Purdue Fort Wayne women secure a 65-61 win over Detroit Mercy, in the opening round of the Horizon League Tournament.

It’s the first conference tournament victory for this program in 10 years.

Audra Emmerson led Purdue Fort Wayne with 16 points.

The Mastodons will play in the quarterfinal round at IUPUI on Thursday night at 7pm.
