Carroll girls dart past Northrop, Homestead wins thriller against Columbia City on first night of sectionals

WATERLOO, Ind. (WPTA) - Carroll posted a commanding victory over Northrop on the opening night of the girls basketball postseason, winning 59-38.

Taylor Fordyce led the Chargers with 19 points in the upset victory at the DeKalb sectional.

The host Barons defeated North Side 58-33.

Over at Huntington North, Homestead freshman Myah Epps hit three free throws in the final second of regulation, securing a 46-45 victory over Columbia City.

In the earlier game at North Arena, New Haven defeated South Side 56-52.

Over at Concordia, Heritage overcame a slow start to beat Bishop Dwenger 48-37.

In boys basketball, Bishop Dwenger posted a 77-56 win over Snider.
