Gov. Holcomb calls for special election to fill late US Rep. Walorski’s seat

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WPTA) - Governor Eric Holcomb announced on Tuesday that he has signed an Executive Order calling a special election to fill late US Rep. Jackie Walorski’s seat.
The special election will be held concurrently with the general election on Nov. 8, 2022, the governor’s office said in a release.
Rep. Walorski and three others were killed in a crash on Aug. 3 in Nappanee after an SUV driven by one of her staffers crossed the center line and struck an oncoming car. Walorski, 28-year-old Emma Thomson, 27-year-old Zachery Potts, and 56-year-old Edith Schmucker were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Palmer Funeral Home, visitation for Walorski will be held at Granger Community Church on Wednesday, Aug. 10, from noon to 7 p.m. Her funeral will also be held at the church on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m.
