FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Charges are pending for a man police say caused a three-car crash that left a woman in life-threatening condition Tuesday morning, the Fort Wayne Police Department says.

FWPD says officers were called to the intersection of E State Blvd. and Hobson Rd. around 8 a.m. Tuesday for a three-vehicle crash. They say dispatch received multiple calls that a black Cadillac was “speeding and blew two traffic lights” near East State and Beacon.

A short time later, police say an accident happened at E State and Hobson involving a black Cadillac. They believe it was traveling east on E State when it collided with another car that was headed south on Hobson, causing the second car to crash into a third car on Hobson.

After the crash, police say the driver of the Cadillac fled on foot before he was apprehended by officers just blocks away from the scene. Police say they believe speed and alcohol are factors in the crash, and the man was taken to a hospital to be treated for possible injuries and tested for drugs and alcohol. Charges for him are pending at this time.

The woman who was driving the car that was south on Hobson was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The man who was driving the third car was uninjured.
