TinCaps erase eight run deficit, but fall in 13th to Lake County

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Robert Hassell III turned in an iconic performance during a thrilling game at Parkview Field, but the TinCaps couldn’t pick up the victory, losing 11-10 to the Captains in 13 innings.

The TinCaps face an 8-0 deficit heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. Hassell opened up the scoring for Fort Wayne with a two-run double in that frame.

Fort Wayne would rally all the way back, and Hassell tied the game on a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.

The TinCaps went a for a dramatic finish in the bottom of the ninth, with Matthew Acosta attempting to steal home. That try failed, and the teams went to extras tied at 9-9.

Both squads scratched across a run in the 11th inning. Petey Halpin put the Captains in front for good with a RBI single in the 13th.

Lucas Dunn stepped up with runners on the corners in the bottom of the 13th, but grounded into a game-ending double play.

The TinCaps and Captains continue their series on Friday night at 7:05pm.
