I&M crews working to restore power after storms
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) crews are working to restore service after Tuesday night and Wednesday morning’s storms.
I&M says the heavy rain and winds of up to 70 miles per hour caused trees and limbs to fall, damaging power lines, and putting 19,400 customers in the dark.
As of 10 a.m., service has been restored to about 25% of the customers, a statement from I&M says, with about 14,500 customers still without service. Restoration crews are traveling from South Bend, Elkhart, and Muncie to assist with restoration.
The 11,800 customers in the Fort Wayne area still without service, should have service restored by 11 p.m. Thursday, I&M says.
Forecasted rain may affect restoration efforts, I&M says, along with debris and extensive repair work.
