DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) - A Fort Wayne man who drove his delivery van onto the train tracks in DeKalb County Tuesday morning told police that was what his GPS directed him to do.
The 18-year-old got out of the van after it got stuck on the tracks near the 4800 block of County Road 59 and called 911, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department said. The van was then hit by a Norfolk Southern Train.
The van was not driveable and was towed from the scene, the sheriff’s department said. No one was injured in the crash. The tracks were inspected by railroad personnel before the train continued on its way.
