City to open cooling center Tuesday-Thursday amid high temps

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The City of Fort Wayne announced Monday morning that a cooling center will be opened in downtown Fort Wayne as there is the potential for record-breaking heat this week.

The lobby of the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory will serve as a cooling station Tuesday through Thursday due to the high temperatures. The conservatory cooling station, located at 1100 S. Calhoun St., will be open June 14 - 16 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
City officials also note that The Salvation Army, at 2901 N. Clinton St., will serve as a cooling station from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. on those same dates.
