Allen County Jail confinement officer seriously injured by inmate, police say

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Allen County Sheriff’s Department (ACSD) says an inmate at the Allen County Jail battered and seriously injured a confinement officer Thursday night.

ACSD Public Information Officer Adam Griffith says staff at the jail called for medical assistance and an ambulance just before 8:30 Thursday night.

He said the confinement officer’s injuries were serious but couldn’t share any specifics about those injuries. Griffith said a detective from the sheriff’s office is now investigating the case and no other injuries were reported.
