Man found dead along Hicksville train tracks ID’d as missing 18-year-old

HICKSVILLE, Ohio (WPTA) - Police say they are investigating after a man who was reported missing was found dead along train tracks in Defiance County.
In a media release, officers say they received a report around 3:30 a.m. Friday about a CSX train that hit a pedestrian on the tracks east of Casebeer-Miller Road. When police arrived, they say they found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a follow-up report, police say they received news of a man missing from a Hicksville home around 7 a.m. They say the man’s description matched that of the man found along the tracks. He has been identified as 18-year-old Logan Schambers of Avilla and a former Hicksville resident.
They say the investigation is continuing and they are awaiting the final coroner’s report on the matter.
