FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - On Wednesday, Mayor Tom Henry announced a partnership with Fort Wayne’s sister city in Plock, Poland, to help the people of Ukraine.

The Plock community is providing essential items and housing to Ukrainians who have had to flee their homes to seek refuge in Plock. Officials say Zhytomyr, Ukraine, is a sister city to Plock. Earlier on Wednesday, Henry said he had a virtual meeting with Plock Mayor Andrzej Nowakowski.

“The mayors discussed the current situation in Ukraine and how Plock is working to make a meaningful difference to help provide resources to Ukrainians in need of assistance,” a release sent by the City says. “The mayors also discussed the importance and value of solidarity and a commitment to wanting peace and democracy restored in Ukraine.”

Henry says the donations given to Fort Wayne Sister Cities will be used directly to help the people of Ukraine through the efforts of Plock. To donate, visit https://www.fortwaynesistercities.net/ and click the donate button in the menu. Officials say to add “City of Plock Refugee Fund” to the payment notes to ensure that the donation is directed to Plock. The note section is located under the dollar amount once the payment type is selected.
