FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Allen County Coroner’s office says an autopsy found that the 9-year-old boy who was pronounced dead over the weekend had multiple blunt force injuries.

Police were called to a home in the 800 block of Putnam Street around 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, for a “juvenile neglect/abuse investigation”. They say a 9-year-old boy was pronounced dead after he was taken from the home to an area hospital.

The coroner has now identified the boy as 9-year-old Elijah T. Ross. They say Elijah was brought to the Lutheran Downtown Hospital by his mother and her spouse.

An autopsy was ordered and completed, finding there were multiple blunt force injuries on the boy, but the cause and manner of death are pending at this time.

Further investigation and testing are being completed by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
