Elderly woman able to escape, call police during fatal quadruple shooting
One of the deceased men believed to be the shooter, police say
ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) - Police say they were notified of the tragic shooting Monday night that killed four people including a teen girl after someone else inside the home was able to escape and call for help.
Around 9 p.m. Monday, police were called to a house on West Cook Road on reports that shots were fired from inside the home. They say four people were pronounced dead at the scene.
In an interview with ABC21 Tuesday morning, Allen County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Troy Hershberger confirmed that two men, one woman, and a teen girl were killed in the shooting. Hershberger says he believes one of the deceased men was the shooter.
An elderly woman was in a different area of the home when the shooting happened and was able to escape and call for help, Hershberger said. He said the investigation noted that there were many weapons in the home, officials believe they were legally obtained. He notes that there were no signs of forced entry into the home and currently has no indication of a motive. Hershberger also said there’s no indication of a criminal history for anyone involved.
An autopsy is currently underway for those involved. Check back for updates.
