Grant Me Hope: Meet Elaina

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - My name is Elaina, but people call me Laney. I’m 11 and I’m in sixth grade. The thing I like most about school is reading. I like to read a lot because it helps me focus.
I like to read James Harriet books. I would describe myself as smart, kind, and caring. I’m really quiet but I talked to my friends. If I had a super power, it’d be invisibility because I can be really shy sometimes. Whenever I’m outside I like softball or soccer.
My three main hobbies are reading, drawing and journaling. I just journal my emotions and how my day went. I like to draw a lot of animals or books, like just pictures of books. I love listening to music. I like to listen to Eminem. I just liked that he raps really well.
For college I want to be really smart. I want to go to Butler University. When I grew up on to be a veterinarian because I like to work with animals.
Well my grandma found a squirrel in her backyard. It was like suffering because it fell out of the tree. And she wanted to help it, so she tried helping it. And then after that she let me start helping her help other squirrels. That was the first time I helped an animal out. From that day forward I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian.
Family to me means to be together, not to separate. Adoption means whenever you find a family and you get adopted. They take you in to live with. So it’s kind of like a new, brand new family for you. Family to me is very important.
