Woman charged in 2002 murder booked into Allen County Jail

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A woman facing murder charges in a 2002 deadly stabbing has been booked into the Allen County Jail.

Last week, police announced they arrested 33-year-old Holly Boisvert in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, closing a cold case spanning almost 20 years. Police transported Boisvert to the Allen County Jail Tuesday, a week after her arrest in Wisconsin.

Boisvert is accused of stabbing 17-year-old Stacy Degrandchamp to death back in August 2002. Court documents filed last week detail a fight breaking out between Boisvert and Degrandchamp, during which police say Boisvert took out a knife and stabbed Degrandchamp.

At the time, police interviewed several witnesses, including Boisvert, but they did not make any arrests.

Flash forward to April 2019 when police interviewed Boisvert again at her home in Wisconsin. This time she admitted to having a knife on her the night of the fight. She then turned the knife over to police.

A pathologist reviewed the original crime scene photos and other evidence to determine if the knife could have been used on Degrandchamp. On May 8, the pathologist told police it is consistent to the one used on Degrandchamp.

According to Court Documents, during another interview, Boisvert said “I think I killed my best friend,” and “If I had just walked away and not turned around to fight,” she’d still be alive.”

According to the Allen County Jail, Boisvert’s first appearance in front of a judge will be April 2.
